Updates

December 14, 2003

From the "We'll-tell-you-about-a-dope-event-after-it-happens-but-not-before" category:

Cool Smoove Pimp Daddy Mackadocious hosted a party in DC this weekend to commemorate another orbit around Sol. Other than giving us mere mortals the opportunity to review and admire Pimp Daddy's stable, the jont was notable for the sharing of turntable duties between Stylus and an off-from-his-'PGC-shift Book. Stylus figures it's been at least five years since they both touched vinyl at the same party... Please-- it's hard enough just to get those bamas to show up for the same episode of the radio show, so believe the occasion is momentous.

Speaking of which, they both actually made it to the lab for last week's show. Impressive. Most impressive.

Fly 25 (that's our annual countdown of the year's best singles, greenie) is coming up, gang... We're making our lists, checking them twice, and jumping in the UFC cage to defend the honor of our picks; we should be all healed up and ready to present the results somewhere between Christmas and the Sadie Hawkins Dance. But, to make sure we don't forget your favorite, drop a line or hit the guestbook and let us know what singles you really felt in '03. Do it.

RIP, Tymex.

December 04, 2003

So two of my Corolla's tires blew out on my way to Stylus' Synergy Set last weekend... In hindsight, maybe I should've listened to the figments of my imagination begging me to stay home... When the devil and the angel on your shoulders are both in agreement about something, take heed.

BUT WHAT WAS YOUR EXCUSE FOR NOT SHOWING UP?? Huh?? Seriously, Stylus is wrecking shop at the jont, and some of y'all are missing it for no good reason. Unacceptable. Don't make me come to your house.

NARAS released this year's Grammy nominations today... Yeah, yeah, no one really gives a toss, but show a little love when 4 out of the 5 nominees for record of the year are Jay-Z, Black Eyed Peas, Outkast, and Eminem... And this ain't the rap category we're talking about here... That's kinda big, but watch Coldplay take the award when it's all said and done.

Three of Eminem's nods, for Record, Song, and Rap Song of the Year, are for "Lose Yourself. Wasn't "8 Mile" a Summer '02 flick? That's way too old to be getting an award in February of '04.

Outkast is nominated for Record and Urban/Alternative Performance for "Hey Ya," and "Speakerboxx/The Love Below" is up for Album and Rap Album of the Year; so much for discouraging Andre from doing more singing...

Critically Acclaimed is opening for KRS-ONE at the 9:30 Club on December 22nd... What does it mean when I'd prefer seeing the undercard over the headliner?

I think we've got a new show lined up this weekend... Find someone with an XM Radio (or cop one), and check it out!
